In many of our
projects, one design move can solve a number of issues.
In this project, the clients came to us wanting to rebuild
their
garage, add some sort of recreation space, and open up their kitchen.
After a number of design iterations, we arrived at a solution.
Our design was simple, keep the garage in more or
less the same place, utilize the change in grade to tuck the recreation
room underneath the new garage, and construct a sunroom connecting the
new construction with the existing. The sunroom served a
multitude of functions, it allowed direct access from the main house to
the garage and recreation room, opened up the kitchen to the rest of
the living space, and increased the amount of daylight throughout the
interior.
